Christmas + a Wishlist!

Who is extremely excited about Christmas being just around the corner?!
I am!
This is the Christmas tree that I decorated with my family last year.
(You'll have to excuse the terrible photo, I wanted to take it at night with the lights on, on my CELLPHONE! Haha)
But all year I've been looking at that picture and it just reminds me of the happiest time.
Don't Christmas photos make you so... happy?
All that family time, food, friends, fun and festivities.
There's nothing quite like it.
I thought I'd share with you a quick Christmas wishlist; you can post yours below too!
1. I really need a new cellphone. Mine doesn't flip shut properly and its been doing weird things lately (like coming up with a blank screen in the middle of my texts!).
2. I'm lusting over the new Calvin Klein fragrance, Beauty. If I got that for Christmas I'd be a verrry happy girl! :)
3. A couple more Pandora charms. I have space on my bracelet for about four or five more so I'd love to fill that up!
4. Come to think of it, I'd really like a leather Pandora bracelet.
5. I need a holiday. This is my Christmas wish. I haven't been on a proper holiday in the longest time (read: years!). Someone whisk me away to Paris, please?
6. I'd love love love some Lush products too! Wouldn't you?
What's your Christmas wishlist??
Hope you're having a great week!

Review: Scarlett & Greene + a Competition

Scarlett & Greene are a sustainable, natural skincare company who make wonderful products using no chemicals or nasties.

They care about New Zealand and ensure that their products are made here. They don't test on animals and their packaging is recyclable. What more could you want? Products that work?!

Scarlett & Greene have been researching for many years to make sure that their products work!

Who wouldn't want to treat problem skin naturally with their breakout cleanser 'Bare All'?
This product treats pimples and clears them up pronto! It won't clog pores, in fact, it actually unclogs them!

At the end of the day, what better way to remove dirt and makeup in ONE quick and easy step? Scarlett & Greene have made a product just for you because they know you're in a hurry! 'Come Clean' is a gentle yet effective cleanser that you'll be racing home to use at the end of the day.

And finally, who in their right mind would go out in the sun without protecting their skin?! Not me! Again, Scarlett & Greene know you're in a hurry in the morning and don't have time for multiple products. Their 'Under Cover' moisturiser combines sun protection (SPF15) with all the moisture you'll need to get you through the day. You'll never leave home without it again.

The best part is that they have given me TWO complete skincare packs to give away to you guys. I'll be giving away one to Yr9 and one to Yr10. All you have to do is go over to my Beauty By Lizy fanpage, click 'Like' and then head to the discussions page. Under your year group you'll need to tell me why you want to win this awesome set of three products from S&G (valued at $82 each!).

Good Luck! Prizes will be drawn on December 10 2010 and the winners will notified by me (through Facebook).

Long or Short?! You Decide.

At the moment I'm at the in-between stage with my hair.
It's halfway between long and short and I have no idea whether I want it long or short now!

I've been trying to grow it out now for the best part of two years.
What do I suit better? Long or short hair?

Happy Wednesday!

Dreaming About Vanity Tables

Isn't this vanity table gorgeous?

Ever since I was 14 I've wanted a vanity but either had nowhere to put one or never found one that I loved. I've been watching a lot of YouTube vids lately that feature the beautiful 'Hayworth' collection from Pier1. However, I feel that so many gurus have one these days that I've been *forced* to find an alternative ;)
I'm still completely in love with mirrored vanities and this one fits the bill perfectly :)

(Not to mention those pink heels!)

Do you have a vanity? What are you lusting over right now?

Mod About You!

Happy November everyone!
One month to go until summer! I'm so excited to see the sun more often (not just so I can get more washing done!).
I decided that the perfect way to celebrate the sun was with an ultra-bright light pink polish.
OPI's Mod About You fit the description perfectly.

3 coats of polish (the first was reeeeaally streaky, as you can imagine) later, I'm very happy with the result!
Bring on summer!

What's your favourite summery shade?

September Favourites

The weather has been so beautiful lately... The sun has been making a regular appearance and as you can see it has affected some of my favourites this month!

01. L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Tinted Self Tanning Gel - This product is amazing! So natural looking and it's tinted so you can see where you're putting it. This is important if you don't want that streaky look.

02. Clinique City Block SPF40 - This product has a funky smell, but then again, don't all sun products have that? The bonus with this one, besides high sun protection, is that it doubles as a makeup primer. I'm all for shortening my morning routine!

via

03. J'adore by Dior - I've loved this fragrance for years, but recently my lovely boyfriend bought me another bottle and I've fallen in love with it all over again. So feminine and beautiful.

04. Chanel Le Vernis in Paradoxal - I'm a tad obsessed with Chanel's nail polishes and this shade is no exception. Purple and taupe shimmer that seems to change colours with the light, gorgeous.

05. Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara - That brush and that formula! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Holy Grail mascara. Looks like I'm wearing faux lashes.

06. Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion - This product contains my ultimate favourite body moisturising ingredient, Shea Butter. It has a delicious fragrance and creamy texture and works wonders on dry skin. Pop on after a shower or bath.

via

07. YSL Temps Majeur Eye Cream - This product is a real treat for me. It contains special Chinese Mushrooms that help to maintain the longevity of the skin cells around the eye area.

08. Manicare Eyelash Curlers - I have owned the same pair for 8 years! If that doesn't say something about the quality of them then I don't know what does. I curl mine three times down the length of the lash to give them a natural curve (no crimps here) and then coat them twice with mascara.

I hope you all have had a wonderful month of September.

Requested: Cost Effective, Perfect Eyeliners

After having sampled a fair few eyeliners in my time, I have made a short list of the ones that I feel are worthy of purchasing. It was specifically requested that I recommend cost effective ones, however I do feel there are many great pricier options available.

- Maybelline Define-a-Line liquid Eyeliner Pen RRP $22.99
This is my top pick for affordability and performance. The shade soft black would be my choice for those wanting a dark line or the basis for a smokey eye. The fuschia packaging is also very eye catching. A winner all round.

-Revlon Colourstay Liquid Eye Pen RRP $27.00
This eyeliner is applied the same way the Maybelline one is, a felt-tip pen with a precise point. Easy application, however quite hard to remove. The pigmentation on this one is great though, very dark and defined. The only down side for me is how hard it is to take off. I definitely don't like eyeliner lurking in my lashes at bedtime.

- L'Oreal Contour Kohl Eye Pencil RRP $26.99
This liner is part of the newer collection of L'Oreal liners (About 6months old). I LOVE the pigmentation on this one. Very dark and similar to my Estee Lauder Doublewear Eye Pencil. I'm having a bit of a moment with liquid liners, but if I had to purchase a new kohl pencil, it would be this one.

-L'Oreal Infallible Longwear Retractable Eyeliner RRP $26.99
I've never really jumped on the retractable eyeliner bandwagon, just doesn't seem like my thing. This eyeliner didn't really exceed my expectations either. The pigmentation wasn't all that great and the plastic smudger on the end just doesn't seem practical. Probably wouldn't waste my money on this one. Buy the Contour Kohl instead.

Other liners worth a mention:
-Napoleon Perdis Liquid Liner Pen
-Lancome Artliner
-Estee Lauder Doublewear Pencil
-Elizabeth Arden Gel Liner

Review: YSL Teint Radiance

Recently, my local YSL counter had a gift-with-purchase promotion. Naturally, I took the opportunity to try a new elite cosmetics brand, especially because I had birthday vouchers I had to use. To qualify for the gift I had to purchase two products. I chose the Teint Radiance foundation and the Touche Eclat concealer/illuminator- I had been lusting after the Touche Eclat for the longest time!

Anyway, the lovely consultant helped me select the correct shades (3 in the foundation and 2 in the concealer).

I have quite dry skin (can get flaky patches if I let it), so I chose the Teint Radiance as it contains Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid is deeply hydrating and has been dubbed the moisture-molecule for a reason. It helps hold moisture in the skin to the tune of thousands of times its own weight in water. I am so glad this foundation has Hyaluronic Acid in it because I will rarely use a product without it!

Although Teint Radiance is hydrating, it is not oily or thick. It is a very light, creamy-textured product that spreads and blends well. It has a satin finish and moderate coverage to give a fresh result. The key feature of Teint Radiance is the mineral particles and reflecting pigments to sculpt the light and shade the face for a flawless and glowing look. It also has an SPF20 to protect from the Sun's rays! A must.

I use mine over an illuminating primer for a super-dewy and glowing look (I know it's winter but I'm not all that keen on matte). I dispense two pumps to the back of my hand and work it into my face using a foundation brush and blending from my nose outwards.

I adore this foundation - I can't say it doesn't look pretty on my dresser with it's gold cap and frosted glass either. The only potential downside for me is the smell. I can't put my finger on it but it smells sort of sunscreen-y. Definitely not a reason to not re-purchase!

Hope you all are having a lovely weekend!

My New Robert Robert Heels

I just had to put a picture up of these shoes. Aren't they gorgeous?! My Mum bought them for me on the weekend when we took a drive up to Otaki. I have a feeling I'll be wearing these a lot this Spring/Summer.

OPI Swiss Collection

I'm very excited about the new OPI Swiss Collection! The French Collection will always be my favourite (deep purples, reds and modern nudes), however the Swiss Collection is definitely rivaling it in the prettiness stakes. The Swiss Collection boasts 6 creme and 6 shimmer shades (Gold and silver glitter-foil, berries, chocolate, teals, gilded plum, bright red and shimmer blue). The two shades that caught my eye first were Glitzerland and Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous. These were the gold and silver intense glitter-foil polishes. I love them! However the gold didn't match my light skin at all so I went ahead and got the silver one.

I know the picture quality is not very good, I must have been shaking a lot but you get the idea.
I also got Just a Little Rosti at This also (pictured top). Both shades have great opacity, two coats is all that is needed. Just a Little Rosti at This is a rich wine-berry creme shade that just seems to work with my colouring. It's a great winter shade (although was designed for the Northern Hemisphere's Fall) that warms up whichever outfit you're wearing. I didn't get a photo of this while I was wearing it (sorry), but it lasted a full week with minimal chipping.

These were the two shades that I liked the most initially but another shade in the Collection, Diva of Geneva is also very beautiful. Let me know what you think.

July Favourites

Hey everybody! So I've finally gone ahead and created a beauty blog which I've been wanting to do for a while now. I thought I would start by doing a quick July favourites post. I know it's not the end of the month yet but I wanted to do it because I've been using these products all month and I really like them.

01. Lancôme Nutrix Royal Body - Instant Nourishing Dry Body Oil.
This oil is amazing. As it says in the title, this is a dry oil, so it's not thick or sticky feeling (from unabsorbed product) like some body oils. It contains 10 botanical oils to nourish the skin - it feels amazing all day long. I use mine as soon as I get out of the shower when my skin is still warm so it absorbs better. It also comes in a handy spray bottle so there is no mess or quantity overload associated with an open topped bottle. It has a very fresh scent to it, I can't put my finger on it but it has a lovely clean smell.

02. Chanel Le Vernis - Particuliere
The most gorgeous nail polish shade I have ever come across. Limited edition and fresh off the runway. It is a greyed taupe hue that applies perfectly opaque after two coats. When dry, the polish is shiny enough not to require a top coat however it would be recommended to set polish and prevent chips. I have been wearing mine for 4 days straight now and I haven't had a chip yet.

03. Moroccan Oil - Oil Treatment for all Hair Types
Yes, another oil! I'm having a bit of a moment with them. I read about this in a magazine and thought it sounded too good to be true. Like the Lancôme oil, this one has very rapid absorption. I use a teensy bit on towel dried hair (just less than the size of an old five cent piece) and apply to ends and mid-lengths only. It's a very light oil and not greasy (you're only using a small amount) but I still wouldn't use it on my roots as it would probably weigh it down too much. It's key ingredient is the argan oil which comes from argan trees endemic to Morocco. It makes your hair feel super soft and silky and provides a nice shine. The hairdresser told me that with repeated use the oil will act as a heat protectant also for use with flat irons etc (?). It makes my hair smell really good too which is a must :) I reckon this is going to last me absolutely ages because it is 100ml and I really am only using a tiny amount.

04. Simple - Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes
I've been through countless packets of these purely because they work and they are relatively cheap - you can pick them up from the supermarket. I like the simple wipes because my skin goes through periods of real sensitivity and these are fragrance, colour, alcohol and harsh chemical free. They remove all of my make-up, even waterproof mascara. I generally don't have that much energy at night to go through a huge skincare regime but I know it's important to remove my make-up. I keep them right next to my bed with some moisturiser so that no matter what, I will always have clean skin before going to sleep!

Kind of a short first post, but I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know your thoughts on these products. If you have tried them etc. Have a good week everybody!
