My Birthday Wishlist

This post is all about a girl dreaming big! Haha!
On Sunday I turn 22 and the Beauty By Lizy blog you all know and love turns 2!
You're cordially invited to a smashing party over here on Sunday night.
Entry to the VIP lounge will be gained by bringing one of the following things (jokes!).

One or two of these drool-worthy chevron mugs. Staring at that buttery yellow inside will brighten up my mornings before work.

This Wonder Lift Serum by Savar looks divine and although I'm only turning 22 and I don't quite need anti-ageing, I read that it's suitable for all skin types. Yes, I'd like some rejuvenating over in this hizzle! If you've been reading by blog for five minutes then you'll know I love serums and if you've read my Savar review then you'll know they're my new skincare crush.

Some Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Balls would be appreciated. Preferably the amount shown above please ;)

A few gorgeous flowers would brighten my day. Peonies are my favourite but I don't think they're in season at the moment. How beautiful are these bunches?

My very own Infrared Sauna. Wouldn't it be nice? I've started having them at my gym and I'm in love! I've read so many good things about what they can do for you.

Yes I want to get amongst the Christian Grey action. Better late than never, right?

So there's my list.
I hope you'll join me on Sunday for the celebrations!
You may even get a party bag to take home...

Review: Tebe Gentle Eye Cream

Tebe Gentle Eye Cream 20ml $32.95*

This month I've gone from being a take-it-or-leave-it eye cream kinda gal to an infatuated devotee and it's all thanks to this miracle product.
For a while now I've been concerned with the dehydration lines that were forming around my eyes from working in a building that has constant air conditioning and bright lights. I was on the lookout for a product that would take care of the moisture loss while at the same time smooth out the lines. As luck would have it, I was sent this product to try right when I needed it the most. It is made right here in New Zealand at the breathtakingly beautiful Simunovich Olive Estate near Auckland.

My first impression of this product was that it seemed much larger than a regular eye cream and so it has a larger perceived value. The second thing I liked about this was that it is presented in a tube. More often than not, companies package their eye creams in a 'cute' little pot that you have to dip your fingers into, contaminating the product and unnecessarily exposing it to the air and pollutants. I know it seems small and insignificant but I say "bravo!" to Tebe for factoring this into the equation. The small-tipped nozzle ensures only a small amount of product can be squeezed out too.

The formula itself is how I prefer my eye creams to be: thick but easily absorbed, not overly scented and packed with a slew of beneficial ingredients.

It contains this - It does this

Apricot Kernel Oil - Moisturises
Macadamia Oil - Moisturises
Pure Rose Absolute - Nourishes and regenerates
Orchid Extract - Refines and repairs fine lines
Hematite Extract - Taughtens and smoothes out wrinkles
Pomegranate Extract - Protects and repairs damage from sun and pollution (antioxidant)
Mango Butter - Smoothes and moisturises
Cucumber Extract - Refreshes (anti-inflammatory)
Olive Leaf Extract - Promotes elasticity (antioxidant)
Olive Oil - Moisturises and smoothes

It contains many other great ingredients too, but these are the heros of this product.

I use two dots per eye each morning and night after cleansing and toning my face.
I've noticed a measurable difference in the appearance of my dehydration lines and I think with repeated use I can kiss them goodbye for good! My eyes are much more hydrated and not so tired-looking any more.

I was sent two other products from the same company so expect see those popping up soon along with a giveaway.

These products are very accessible nationwide and I urge you to go and check them out if you want skincare that's good for you and your wallet!
Go and visit their website here for further information.

Review: Savar Skincare

Savar Essential Cleansing Lotion 180ml $49*
Savar Essential Hydration Moisturiser 100ml $59*
Savar Luxury Face Wash 30ml $25*

These products were very kindly sent to me for review purposes from Savar a couple of weeks ago. I've been trying them out ever since and wanted a good chance to trial them and learn a little about the Savar brand before reviewing them. My honest opinion is given throughout and I am not being compensated for this review.

I chose the Essential Cleansing Lotion to cleanse with as my skin has been a little dry lately and although it caters to every skin type, I found it was perfect for my dry skin. The creamy consistency doesn't strip my skin of it's natural oils, in fact I feel it adds something to my skin. It is left feeling hydrated and ready to be toned (or in my case at night, ready to have a double cleanse with the Luxury Face Wash). I use one pump-full on dry skin morning and night, and massage into my skin. At night I do put it over top of my makeup and massage to loosen all of my daily face, then wash off with a warm cloth, not hot. I find that it does a great job of removing even stubborn eye makeup. I love it's subtle, citrus smell thanks to it's sweet orange extract because it reminds you that you are using something natural. It also contains New Zealand calendula, organic sunflower oil, cocoa butter and many other natural extracts that aim to soften, balance and gently purify. I am pleased with its pump packaging as it makes it quick and easy to dispense the right amount of product, keeps the product sealed and hygienic and it looks lovely on my bathroom shelf! I recommend this product if you like natural, creamy, non-foaming cleansers and/or you have dry skin.

I chose the Essential Hydration Moisturiser to help combat my dry, winter skin. The first thing I noticed about this product is the size, 100ml is two times the size of a regular moisturiser and so is great value. I use this after I cleanse with the Essential Cleansing Lotion, I skipped toner because I wanted to use only this brand but lightly misted my skin with my Avene water instead. I spread one pump-full over my entire face and neck and find that the dispensed amount is perfect. The product is light and non-greasy but definitely feels hydrating on. I was amazed when I woke up the morning after first using this product because I could still feel it on my skin. My skin just felt hydrated and plump and had a subtle glow to it. It contains some powerful natural ingredients too, starflower oil, rosehip oil, mimosa extract (which I've heard is great for restoring the skin's radiance), white tea extract, raspberry seed oil and rose petal extract are just a few of the lovely things I've been putting on my face. This product aims to smooth, soften, rejuvenate, replenish and restore radiance and after using for a couple of weeks and hearing the compliments people are giving me about my skin (not just my mum, okay ;) I can safely say this product does what it says it will. I took this with me on my trip last week and the handy 'lock' feature on the pump was great for avoiding spills in my makeup bag.

This product was sent to me as an extra as the company's founder Vicky read my blog and knew that I liked to double cleanse at night. I was touched at the thought and even more impressed with the Savar brand as a whole (more on that later). I initially didn't choose this cleansing product as I was worried about how a 'wash' would fare with my dry skin, but I needn't have worried. This product doesn't dry at all and if you're a fan of a 'wet' wash off cleanser then let this be your product. I get the feeling that this product is one of the heros of their brand and the cornerstone of their recommended skincare regime. It really is a luxury to use this cleanser, it glides on and moves easily over the skin, it doesn't pull or tug and you just know it's doing a great job at removing dirt and impurities. This cleanser also has a faint citrus smell which makes it a pleasure to use, I can't use a product that doesn't smell good. I was interested to learn that after water, Aloe Vera juice is the biggest ingredient in this cleanser. We all know the benefits of Aloe Vera, get a burn and pop some on, it soothes, calms and takes down any redness instantly which makes this product fantastic for everyone, even someone with sensitive skin. Cucumber extract also makes an appearance as does lemon, honey, pawpaw, raspberry, hibiscus and lacebark. They pulled out all the big guns for this one! I'm so glad they sent this to me. Y'all need to try it for yourself.

From talking to Vicky, I got an impression of Savar as a company that possesses great integrity, knowledge, understanding and the ability to have fun and give back. If you looked at any of the links I posted in my last Savar post (I'll link them all again at the end) then you'll know that their Pinterest page is full of stylish and inspiring images that shows the spirit of women and what we like to look at (hot guys, fashion of the moment and words to live your life by to name a few). For a company that only launched months, not years ago to have entered so high in the beauty market is a testament to how well they know their stuff. The packaging is lovely, including a little leaflet further explaining the product and brand was not lost on me. In this day and age, we want all the knowledge we can get, by providing one small leaflet I can see the attention to detail given.
Their website is informative and easy to navigate. Their blog is a must read if you want natural beauty advice too. Make sure you check out their Facebook Page too if you want a weekly chance to win some of their goodies, it's all part of having fun and giving back.

Savar 99% natural products are recyclable and not tested on animals. Great right? They're also free from parabens, harmful chemicals, harsh detergents, mineral oils and animal derived ingredients.

I'll be back tomorrow with a giveaway for you. Savar have kindly donated this travel set to giveaway to one of my lucky readers!

This Is My Monday

I usually get Mondays off work because I work most Saturdays. I quite enjoy having this day off because it's not busy about town and I can get things done without racing around other people. Today my boyfriend joined me (I practically had to beg him to go to the mall HA!) so that he could get some ideas for a birthday present for me. It's my birthday and 2 year blogiversary next week, I'm so excited! Chris bought me the laptop 'bag' from Typo, I love it so much. It's a high fashion look at a very affordable price.

He also bought me the tassel key chain and hammered-look studs from Witchery, one of my favourite stores. Isn't he nice letting me pick out some of my own presents? I promised him I wouldn't use them till next week haha. I'm loving the tassel key chain look at the moment, very Made By Girl, check them out here. Except mine was a fraction of the cost. I'm thinking about going and getting a couple more for a giveaway. What do you think?

We went to LUSH for a 'smell' haha!
We also went to the supermarket to do a couple of groceries and so I could pick up some regulars, a magazine (frankie) and my favourite cotton pads.
It seems so small and insignificant but I really believe these are the best cotton pads on the market in NZ. Yep, good ol' homebrand. They don't have any sharp edges or shed fluffy bits on my eyelashes. Love
I could buy the Shiseido Facial Cotton which is to die for, but I'm not gonna drop $8.50 for 60 pads. Okay maybe I will. Just to try it ;)

I'll be back soon with my long-awaited Savar review!

Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream

This isn't a review as such, in fact, this post should actually be called the many uses of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.
If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know that this product has been a firm favourite on my sidebar for a while.

Here are my uses:

001. The world's largest lip balm! Smooth it on whenever you need a moisture kick to curb dry, chapped lips.
002. Use it to smooth down unruly eyebrows.
003. Pop it on cuts and grazes to help seal and heal baby.
004. Give it to your man to put on his shaving rash.
005. Slather it on dry feet in winter and put socks on before bed. In the morning your feet will be ah-mazingly soft!
006. Use it to soften your cuticles. Just rub in a small amount a couple of times a day. They'll look instantly better.
007. Mix it with a little Caster Sugar to make a lovely lip scrub.
008. Rub it into any little dry bits. I know I use it on my elbows and also if I get a random dry spot on my face I'll use it on that too.
009. If I'm out and about I'll use a tiny amount to smooth down any flyaway hair.
010. My last and 'best' use is to dab a little bit onto my cheekbones where you'd put highlighter for a glowing appearance.

Hope you liked this post. Are you all running to find your tube to slather it all over your body? ;)
What are you doing this weekend?
I'm linking this post up at Weekend Bloggy Reading at Serenity Now.

June 2012 Favourites

Better late than never, right?
These are the products I couldn't live without this past month.

001. My Shiseido Cleansing Massaging Brush* worked wonders on my dry and dull winter skin teamed with my favourite cleanser.
002. Viktor & Rolf had me smelling fabulous with my latest fragrance obsession Flowerbomb*. Even my boyfriend noticed I wasn't wearing my usual J'adore and he loved it!
003. The Body Shop's Shea Lip Butter has been the hero of my balm collection lately, conditioning my lips from the harsh air-con/heating/wind. I love the colour it turns my lips when I wear it, lightish-nude-pink.
004. I've still been wearing my Clarins Skin Illusion* foundation every day. It's got a light to medium natural coverage and finish and makes your skin look like it's glowing from within.
005. Since attempting P10P I've rediscovered my love for my Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo. It smells To.Die.For. Can't even describe my love for this shampoo. Check it out.
006. See my post below on Garnier's Anti-Dark Circles Eye Roll On. Love it!
007. I started using my Argania Moisture Repair Conditioner later on in the month but I loved it so much I had to include it! Coupled with the Paul Mitchell Shampoo it makes up one half of an ah-mazing hair duo. I love it that it doesn't contain a truck load full of chemicals but does boast good oils like Argan oil (Moroccan oil) and Sweet Almond oil. It's got Keratin and Wheat Proteins too. Oh, and it's made right here in NZ. Can you tell that I love it?!
008. Last but definitely not least is the Savar Essential Hydration Moisturiser* that was sent to me near the end of the month. More to come on that soon but I had to include it in these June Favourites because it's amazing! Great results, great product, great price, great packaging, great size, great smell. You get the drift.

Do you have any of these products? What do you think of them?

Spotlight On: Garnier Anti-Dark Circles Eye Roll On

Y'all know I love a bargain.
I especially love it when that bargain turns into a can't-live-without product.
Enter Garnier's Anti-Dark Circles Eye Roll On.

This clever little product works two ways to cover up dark circles with the tinted formula and helps treat them with a metal roller ball and a slew of ingredients to brighten and drain.

If you haven't tried this product you should check it out because I love it more than my YSL Touch Eclat (did I just say that out loud?). It's so creamy, it blends well, the coverage is great for a 'tinted-not-full-on-concealer' formula, the roller ball is fun to play with and you get so much bang for your buck! Look at the size of it!
The price ranges from about $15-$20 depending on where you buy it from (try the supermarket first) and it sure as heck beats $75+ on a similar product that let's face it, you only want to pull out in a public restroom because of the gold packaging.

Have you tried this product before? Do you love it too?
