Handbag Beauty // On-The-Go

Today I am sharing some of the beauty items that I have been obsessed with lately. After my recent travels (Vancouver, Alaska and Seattle) it became obvious that I was reaching for these products daily. Now, back at home, I keep them all in this cosmetic bag (in my favourite shade!) that I bought in Seattle.

When I'm in a hurry (like racing out the door to beat the Piroshky, Piroshky line at the Pike Place Market!), I'll just pop on some mascara, concealer and a lip balm or gloss. The Chanel Le Volume De Chanel mascara is my all-time fave. I have tried loads over the years and have had other faves but nothing honestly compares to the Chanel. It coats the lashes so well and volumises like you won't believe. The formula is very wet and the mascara takes a couple of weeks of use (being opened) to get the ideal consistency.

I have used the Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer for several months, enjoying the shade-match with my skin and the longevity that the Double Wear formula provides. It doesn't settle into fine lines (let's be honest, we all have them) and covers up any dark circles with ease. I don't always need to wear full-on foundation, but I do feel better after I've applied a little concealer and think that this one is worth your hard-earned pennies.

If you are from Australia the Lanolips lip balm needs no introduction, however for those Kiwi gals who may not have heard of it, it is a natural, lanolin-based range that moisturises, soothes, nourishes and looks good! I have both the strawberry and peach flavours and can attest to the fact that they are not sticky, look gorgeously glossy and last long enough on a long-haul flight that you aren't reapplying every 10 minutes. Lanolips was created with no cheap 'filler' ingredients and actually moisturises and repairs. I am interested in trying their hand creams and original ointment next. The products are not readily available in New Zealand, however you can purchase them from websites that ship to NZ; I bought mine on my latest trip to Sydney and Canberra.

If you follow me on Insta (@beautybylizy) you may have seen me post about the brand thisworks before. I am obsessed with their Deep Sleep range and branched out to the in-transit muscle therapy roll-on after seeing Lisa Eldridge talk about it in her kit essentials video. I carry a lot of stress and tension in my shoulders/trap muscles and use this to roll them out and relieve that area. It is good for any aching muscles and took it away with me recently as a natural alternative to pain relief medication. The long days walking around and carrying a backpack/handbag took their toll, but thanks to this product I was able to get rid of any strains fairly quickly. You can use this for tension headaches too, just roll gently onto your temples. I love, love, love the smell too - the natural scent of spices and botanics helps to calm me down immediately. I get my thisworks from Mecca Cosmetica in Wellington.

I've been wanting the Eau de Beaute Beauty Elixir spray from Caudalie for ages and finally pulled the trigger in Sephora in the States. I got the limited edition Jason Wu version as I thought the packaging was so pretty. It is so refreshing and light, I just spray on when I need a pick-me-up. Not an essential beauty item but a luxury that I have come to love. It is cooling on the skin and is nice if you've been running around or just want to set your makeup. A firm handbag staple.

And last but not least, my favourite flavour of Tic-Tacs for on-the-go refreshment. Any type of mint makes me sneeze (although I love it) but the orange flavour are more like lollies so I am a bit addicted.

So there you have it! Do you use any of these products? Let me know what your handbag essentials are - I'm always curious to know what other people use!

P.S - I know I have been totally AWOL on here lately but am hoping to change that with some ideas I have come up with for new content. If you are still with me after five years then I commend you and you get five gold stars! x

Until next time -
